“Follow Me”

My devotional this morning asked me to describe my first follow me moment with Jesus.

Mark 1:17 : “Come, follow me,“ Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

It was back in 1990 when I was 26 and had 3 little children. My husband and I packed up all our belongings, and our beautiful children to move 500 miles away from everything and everyone I loved. We had a corner lot house with a fenced in yard with swimming pool. We were making good money. I enjoyed my in home daycare and Jim was working at GPC and had a mechanic shop in our garage. Life was good, but we wanted to make a difference. So we went to work at a Boys Ranch in Missouri. I was scared, sad, excited but ready to follow Jesus.

We learned a lot in the next year and a half or so about what it meant to follow Jesus. Lots of ups and downs. One thing we learned was that even though it was hard we loved fishing for hurting boys and knew there were boys back in our hometown area that we could help also. So we followed Him back to Iowa 500 miles and started a long road of fishing for people.

Thinking about this first follow me moment with Jesus brought back all kinds of memories of different boys and families. I’m so thankful Jesus asked us to follow him so many years ago.

God is good and he still has us fishing for people just in a different way.

Think about your first follow me moment with Jesus.

Still fishing for Jesus,

Cathy

They have always spelled work “f-u-n” so you could say they are having fun coming up with “A Little This and That” for you to take home. They started this business in 2018 to help fund them in transition from a boys ranch ministry to an RV ministry. They are now living in an RV full time as of June 2019. They joined Sowers ministry and will be doing projects at different locations and also spending some good quality time with their kids and grandkids.
